I've been involved in home schooling for some time now (like 28 years). Much has changed as states are making it easier to do legally and more and more families are venturing into educating at home. More people are aware and seem to accept it as almost normal.
I am amazed, though, at the questions I still get asked when people find out I was or do home school. The one that amazes me most is how I could think I'm smart enough to teach my children everything they need to know. I've learned to smile, overlook the underhanded insult and answer that the point isn't that I know everything, but that I am teaching my children how to learn. There is a whole world of information and photographs and movies and studies and research, some in books and some on the world wide web. We get to keep learning and growing and discovering new things. No one has to know everything, how boring would that be!?
When I saw this ad on tv the other day, I knew I had to share it. Google Ad, Smart Dad Enjoy being "smart."
